Worth The Fight- The Departed

Yesterday I had the pleasure to put my ear to the first single Worth The Fight from the upcoming The Departed album Adventus, due in November. For those of you that somehow missed it or just don't know, The Departed is the new band from Cody Canada, former front of Cross Canadian Ragweed. This will be the first album of original songs from the guys. The first release from the band was last year's This is Indian Land, a tribute album of songs meant to honor his home state and the Oklahoma artists that define the state.

From the very beginning you feel it. Cody is back and his pairing with Seth James in The Departed is going to make people take notice. His passion and fire for music is alive and well, and it's about to kick your teeth in. He again has a group of guys around him that love the music and it shows. The single Worth The Fight shows you that these guys will be picking up the torch for the rocking Red Dirt sound that flickered a bit with the breakup of CCR.

On a side note, I want to thank The Departed for this song. For me it couldn't have come at a better time. I had been going through some pretty serious stuff both personally and as a writer. I had actually made the decision to quit writing. But one verse in this song really made me rethink some things.

'Kept on pushing
Till we got it right
Far from easy
But worth the fight'

Listen here ----> Worth The Fight

Anything worth having is worth fighting for. If you are doing something for the right reasons, to hell with the people that put you down. Stay true to yourself, and your beliefs and you can not fail. The only true failure is in quitting. Thanks for the reminder guys.
